A brief background

Douglas & Velcich was established in 1984, by two South African chartered accountants, David Douglas and Alan Velcich, to provide auditing and financial services to progressive organisations working to develop people and communities in opposition to Apartheid and in promoting human rights, educational and health issues. Our original client base was drawn mainly from the non-governmental organisations (NGOs), firms of attorneys, religious organisations and trade unions that focused on these issues.

Since then, our original client base has expanded to include commercial companies, public sector organisations/departments and individuals.

Alan Velcich was a partner of the firm until his untimely death in 2013. David Douglas now manages the firm through a five-person Management Committee.
